OAKLAND — There must’ve been some magic in that Midwest air.
The last meeting with the Mariners up in Seattle saw Oakland in somewhat of an offensive skid. Over 17 games, the A’s had averaged just over three runs per game and — most importantly — only 15 balls had left the park. The moment the A’s charter flight touched down in Detroit, it seems, the power that makes this lineup chug flickered steadily back on.
The latest rays of light came from Matt Olson, Mark Canha (back-to-back) and Stephen Piscotty, who all went yard in Friday’s 6-2 victory over the Mariners.
