PEORIA, Ariz. - Jharel Cotton said he’s far more confident on the mound than he was when breaking into the majors in September.
“I’m not scared,” Cotton said Sunday. “I’m more mature.”
Long after his two-inning stint in Oakland’s 5-4 victory over the Mariners, Cotton was at his Peoria Stadium locker breaking down his pitch sequences with veteran catcher Stephen Vogt.
Cotton said his relationship with the two-time All-Star will go a long way in his development. Cotton threw a scoreless first inning but admitted to losing focus the next inning, issuing consecutive two-out walks, before Vogt calmed him down.
