MESA, Ariz. – Every new parent knows the first few months of parenthood bring rest in fragments as the new baby’s sleep cycle rules the roost.
Being tired all the time is part of the equation.
A’s second baseman Jed Lowrie is the exception to the rule. After his wife, Milessa, gave birth to the couple’s second child, Miles, four months ago, he dove into the sleep-in-segments mode.
Even so, he found himself more rested than he’d been in years. After his 2016 season was cut short by surgery to remove a cyst from his left foot, he found he also needed surgery to repair a deviated septum.
