ANAHEIM — Jed Lowrie was back in Oakland’s lineup Monday after taking a foul ball off his left shin during his third plate appearance Sunday.
“It’s considerably better,” said the A’s second baseman, who played another inning in the field before exiting Sunday. “It’s still a little sore, but yesterday it would not get loose.”
Lowrie, naturally, doesn’t wear a protective pad on his back shin, but he was a little surprised by a first-pitch slider from Austin Bibens-Dirkx. “Unless I start wearing catcher’s gear to the plate, I don’t think I can prevent that,” he said.
