A’s injury updates: Daniel Mengden, Josh Phegley

Related Topics: Josh Phegley, Daniel Mengden

Daniel Mengden, recovering from preseason foot surgery, was throwing hard in his rehab outing with Triple-A Nashville on Monday, hitting 91-95 mph, according to A’s manager Bob Melvin. “Felt good, velocity was good,” Melvin said.

The A’s have two other pitchers, Sean Manaea and Chris Bassitt, pitching with Nashville on rehab assignments on Tuesday evening. Manaea (shoulder tightness) is likely to come off the DL after his one appearance with the Sounds, but Mengden is likely to be optioned to Nashville when he comes off the 60-day DL, while Bassitt could wind up with the Sounds well into June while he is coming back from Tommy John surgery.
