OAKLAND — Matt Chapman took swings off a batting tee Friday night, hopes to take a full-on batting practice this weekend and if all goes well, he could be back in the lineup before the Fourth of July.
Chapman went on the disabled list June 15 with a right thumb contusion, an injury which bothered him last year and caused him to get a cortisone shot during spring training. His most recent injection was Monday.
“Today was the first day that I hit since I got the cortisone shot and it felt good,” Chapman said before the A’s faced the Cleveland Indians at the Coliseum.
