SEATTLE -- In the month of April, nothing was rattling Athletics left-handed ace Sean Manaea on the mound.
So, the Mariners tried something a little bit different Thursday night. They tried pestering him.
It worked. Seattle manufactured two early runs before slugger Nelson Cruz delivered the big blow, and the Athletics lost, 4-1, at Safeco Field.
With the loss, Oakland finished its long American League West-only road trip with a 4-5 mark.
Coming into the series finale, the Athletics had to be feeling pretty good about their chances for a winning road trip, especially after their dramatic come-from-behind victory Wednesday.
