The Red Sox learned something about the A’s in their three-game stop in Oakland beyond the fact Sean Manaea has no-hit stuff.
They learned he’s got friends.
The A’s became the first team to win a series from the Red Sox and mostly stifled the majors’ best offense, and Khris Davis’ eighth-inning home run decided Sunday’s 4-1 victory that gave the series to Oakland, two games to one.
Davis’ sixth homer came on David Price’s final pitch and delighted the boisterous Coliseum crowd, which was announced at 29,804 and included fewer cheers than normal from the usually loud Boston-sided contingent.
