SEATTLE — Oakland’s offense scored a pair of runs early Friday night, but the A’s couldn’t hold on as Oakland dropped its series opener to Seattle 3-2 at Safeco Field.
Jed Lowrie got Oakland on the scoreboard quickly with an RBI double in the top of the first inning. Matt Olson added another run on a fielder’s choice to put the A’s up 2-0.
But the Mariners responded with three runs in the bottom of the third. Seattle catcher Mike Zunino led off the inning with a solo home run, the first hit of the game off Oakland left-hander Sean Manaea.
