A’s expect to play new faces in upcoming doubleheader

OAKLAND — With expanded rosters now in play, the A’s will get the chance to get a closer look at all the new players that were called up over the past week.

The A’s will make up a game that was rained out in April against the Houston Astros by playing a traditional doubleheader on Saturday at the Coliseum.

A’s manager Bob Melvin will have the luxury of added roster depth at his disposal, and he plans to take full advantage. Power-hitting prospect Renato Nunez, along with potential shortstop of the future Franklin Barreto and infielder Joey Wendle, all figure to get more playing time after mostly sitting on the bench since their recent call ups.
