Triggs did not allow an earned run in 5 2/3 innings in his first start against the Angels. This time, he breezed through the Royals' lineup, walking one and striking out three.

The Royals broke a streak of 19 consecutive scoreless innings when Lorenzo Cain's infield hit scored Raul Mondesi, who homered in the ninth, from third base in the eighth. Still, they are 8-for-52 this season with runners in scoring position.
