DETROIT — Matt Olson didn’t hit a home run Wednesday, finally, but another youngster came up big for the A’s.
Daniel Mengden pitched seven shutout innings, and the A’s completed a three-game road sweep of the Detroit Tigers with a 3-2 victory.
The win was the 11th in the past 14 games for the A’s, who finished a nine-game swing through the Eastern time zone with a 6-3 record.
Marcus Semien provided all the offense Mengden needed, driving in all three runs with a double in the third inning and a two-run homer in the seventh.
