Surprisingly, the A’s managed to make more news on the field than off it Sunday.
Yonder Alonso lined a walk-off homer to right, completing a six-run comeback with a 6-5, 12-inning victory over the Twins - just about the only kind of game that could have taken the focus off the potential trade of ace Sonny Gray.
Reports are swirling about Gray being dealt to the Yankees or about a half dozen other contenders, but he was in the A’s winning clubhouse Sunday, along with the other experienced players who could be dealt before Monday’s non-waiver trade deadline.
