OAKLAND — For the second day in a row, the A’s had some late-inning heroics in them.
This time it was Yonder Alonso who played hero. After overcoming an early 5-0 deficit to send the game into extra innings, Alonso launched a first-pitch fastball from Minnesota Twins reliever Tyler Duffey over the right field wall in the bottom of the 12th inning, giving the A’s a 6-5 victory Sunday and their second walk-off home run in as many days.
Matt Chapman made the comeback possible in the eighth inning. After Saturday’s hero, Rajai Davis, came up with a two-out pinch-hit single to put runners on first and second, Chapman smashed a double over the head of Eddie Rosario that brought home both Davis and Ryon Healy to tie the score at 5-5.
