OAKLAND — The A’s made a roster splash Thursday on getaway day, signing Trayce Thompson — brother of Warriors’ guard Klay Thompson — off waivers.
Thompson, 27, is at his family’s home in Southern California and will join the A’s during their upcoming three game series in Anaheim against the Los Angeles Angels.
After being designated for assignment by the Dodgers last week, Thompson was claimed by the New York Yankees. The Yankees subsequently put him on waivers and he was claimed by the A’s.
“I think it’s pretty cool,” A’s manager Bob Melvin said before the A’s wrapped up their homestand against the Texas Rangers.
