A’s Cesar Chavez Day game may include Shohei Ohtani’s MLB pitching debut

Cesar Chavez Day will hold special meaning at the Oakland Coliseum next week, even beyond the more than 200 members of the late civil rights and labor movement activist’s family who’ll be in attendance when the A’s play the Angels.

In addition to honoring Chavez’s legacy, there’s another compelling reason for fans to attend the 1:05 p.m. game on Saturday, March 31: A chance to watch history. Shohei Ohtani, who some call “The Babe Ruth of Japan” is scheduled to make his Major League pitching debut that day. Ohtani is looking to become the most notable hitting-and-pitching standout since Ruth.
