A’s minor league catcher Bruce Maxwell was sentenced Monday in Phoenix to two years of probation on a disorderly conduct charge, the Associated Press reported.
Maxwell, who is currently playing with the A’s Triple-A Nashville team, had pleaded guilty to the charge in the gun-related incident nearly three months ago.
According to police in Scottsdale, Maxwell had pointed a gun at a delivery person who brought food to his home in October, apparently not knowing who was at his door. The woman who delivered to Maxwell said he put his gun away once she identified herself.
In addition to his off-field troubles, Maxwell has endured a rough time on the field this year.
