At least the A’s made some contact against Chris Sale. In some cases, very loud contact.
That’s always a bonus when facing baseball’s best swing-and-miss pitcher. The A’s were good enough Friday night to hit ’em where they ain’t seven times on Sale’s watch, but their biggest hit came when Sale was long gone.
Mark Canha smacked a walk-off home run off Heath Hembree in the 10th inning, and the A’s beat the Red Sox 3-2 before 24,728 on Fireworks Night.
Canha was unstoppable no matter who was pitching. Of the seven hits Sale yielded, Canha had two, a double and RBI triple.
