A’s bats wake up in 8-5 win over Twins

MINNEAPOLIS - A little late rally in the ninth inning one night before showed the most life from the A’s lineup in more than a week, with some good, patient at-bats and some hard contact.

Manager Bob Melvin, his team snared in an early-season fun, expressed hope that that brief and unsuccessful rally might carry over Thursday - and perhaps it did. The A’s scored four runs in the first two innings, taking their first lead in five days, and they downed AL-Central leading Minnesota 8-5.
