ANAHEIM - As expected, the A’s placed catcher Dustin Garneau on the roster Saturday after acquiring him on waivers one day earlier.
With Oakland facing left-hander Tyler Skaggs on Saturday evening, the right-handed hitting Garneau is likely to be in the lineup.
To make room for Garneau, the A’s designated catcher Ryan Lavarnway for assignment. Lavarnway had been provided a right-handed hitting option while Josh Phegley is on the disabled list with an oblique strain.
Garneau hit .206 with a home run and six RBIs in 22 games with the Rockies, and he was batting .
