A’s activate Chapman: ‘feels like my debut all over again’

Third baseman Matt Chapman was activated from the disabled list and inserted into the lineup for Monday night’s series opener against the White Sox.

It’ll be Chapman’s fifth big-league game. His first four came in the sweep of the Yankees.

“You don’t want to put too much pressure on a younger guy, but he was pretty impactful in the four games he was here for us,” manager Bob Melvin said. “He certainly makes our defense better right away and had some good at-bats for us. At this point, anybody we can get back among the guys on the DL will be good for us, and it’s nice to have him back.
