MINNEAPOLIS – Sean Manaea reported to Target Field Thursday morning still feeling a little discomfort in his left shoulder, so he was scratched from Thursday’s scheduled bullpen session.
That means he won’t be ready to make his next turn in the Oakland rotation and Sonny Gray will take his place Sunday in the A’s series finale in the Coliseum against the Detroit Tigers.
“We’re going to wait before he has his next bullpen,” manager Bob Melvin said of Manaea.
The A’s had been hoping Manaea would just need the 10-day disabled list minimum before returning to duty asked if that timetable could now be extended, Melvin said “potentially.
