Angels' Wilson to have elbow surgery, season likely over

As the Angels fight for a playoff spot in the contentious American League, they suffered a big blow Saturday.

Prior to the Angels' game against the Dodgers Saturday, veteran starter C.J. Wilson announced to the media that he has an elbow impingement secondary to arthritis in his left elbow and he will require surgery.

The news of surgery comes a day after the Angels placed the lefty on the 15-day disabled list with elbow inflammation.

There is no timetable for his return, but Wilson told reporters he may not be able to pitch again this season.
