Andrew Triggs terrific again, A’s end losing streak

HOUSTON - Andrew Triggs was coming off his one rough outing of the season Saturday. He shook it off, and how.

The reliever-turned-starter worked a career-high seven innings as Oakland beat first-place Houston 2-1. He didn’t allow a run while striking out a career-high nine batters, helping the A’s upend a five-game losing streak and solidifying his spot in the rotation when Sonny Gray returns next week.

Jed Lowrie and Khris Davis supplied all of Oakland’s offense with a solo homer each. Davis’ 10 homers lead the league, and he’s on pace for 67, which perhaps should have dissuaded the Astros fan in right field from throwing the home-run ball back on the field, but oh well.
