Alonso, Plouffe lead A's offense vs. Mariners

Right-hander Chris Heston had pitched well in his first four outings for Seattle, but gave up seven hits -- including five doubles -- while getting just one out in a six-run third for the A's. Catcher Bruce Maxwell's two-run double capped the inning, but Oakland also got two-baggers from Chris Parmelee, Adam Rosales, Marcus Semien and Plouffe.

The A's finished with seven doubles, including two by Rosales.

A's starter Jharel Cotton ran into his own trouble in the fourth when he issued three of his five walks in a 3 2/3-inning outing, setting up a four-run frame for Seattle that included a two-run single by Cano, who had doubled in another run in the third.
