A.J. Puk out at least two weeks with shoulder injury

A.J. Puk received PRP and cortisone injections in his left shoulder, A’s manager Bob Melvin said.

The A’s prized left-handed pitcher was slotted to start the season in the fifth spot of Oakland’s rotation, but was placed on the 10-day IL with a left shoulder strain.

Puk is likely to be sidelined for two weeks, at least, and is resting for the next 48 hours. Right-handed pitcher Daniel Mengden will fill in for him in the rotation until Puk’s return from injury.
