MESA, Ariz. -Since the A’s took him with their first pick in the draft last June, A.J. Puk did some adding and subtracting.
The 6-foot-7 left-handed starter picked up a curveball again for the first time since high school….and over the winter, he lost nearly 20 pounds.
Puk said Friday at Hohokam Stadium that he worked with professional trainers this offseason for the first time, going to Diesel Fitness in Tampa, and he gained some muscle while dropping some lbs, going from 253 to 235.
“I definitely cut down quite a few pounds,” he said. “It’s helped out a lot.
