ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. - Mark Canha was brutally honest about why he was demoted Friday, while at the same upbeat about his future.
Canha, sent down Friday to make room for outfielder Jaycob Brugman, said he’s been seeing the ball well, but still missing fastballs right down the middle. “I was fully expecting this,” he said. “I’m the most logical player to send down, it’s common sense.”
Canha is batting .191 overall but had been struggling in earnest lately, going 2 for his past 29 with 18 strikeouts, and perhaps more telling, zero walks in that span.
