CLEVELAND – On an otherwise bad day at work Monday, the A’s saw a subtle shift in the way they perceive their depth.
Chad Pinder got a rare start at shortstop, just his third, and turned in a terrific play and throw from deep in the hole and came back later with a couple of other above-average plays that had his manager, Bob Melvin, raving in the wake of a 5-3 loss to the Indians.
“That goes a long way for him, that game today, confidence wise,” Bob Melvin said. “And not just the play in the first, he made several good plays.
