A pitcher coming to Oakland and one leaving the organization were Topics 1 and 2 of Bob Melvin’s pregame news conference Friday.
The A’s acquired lefty Felix Doubront from Toronto for cash considerations. The Jays had designated him for assignment Tuesday after they acquired shortstop Troy Tulowitzki from Colorado. Melvin said the A’s are leaning toward putting Doubront in the rotation.
“He’s a big guy with an assortment of pitches and at times has pretty good velocity,” Melvin said.
