Notre Dame football was given a mulligan by the pollsters after Saturday’s performance.
After slopping through a win against a mediocre MAC team in Ball State, many wondered if that would mean a drop in the polls for the Irish. That would not be the case, as the Irish held firm at No. 8 in both the AP Top 25 and the Amway Coaches Poll.
It wasn’t so much the luck of the Irish that kept Notre Dame at No. 8 as much as it was the lack of statement wins from teams below them or surprising losses from teams above them.
