Notre Dame has been lucky not to be hit as hard as some teams when it comes to the transfer portal, but the latest announcement is a pretty tough one to hear. With one year of eligibility left, defensive end Joshua Burnham is choosing to spend it with another program.
Burnham announced his intent to enter the transfer portal earlier this week, and this is certainly a hit to the Notre Dame defense. Burnham became a reliable player on the defensive line, a line that is already losing Donovan Hinish due to retirement.
While Burnham's stats may not have exploded off the page, his experience is something that will be tough to replace.
