Brian Kelly immediately addressed the flaws within the Notre Dame football program following a disastrous 2016 season. He started by adding Brian Polian to the staff and moved on to add more positional coaches as well as new offensive and defensive coordinators.
The new staff came in and got straight to work on the recruiting trail, which was not going very well for the Irish at that time. They had 15 committed recruits with signing day fast approaching and several glaring needs that had to be addressed.
They orchestrated wonders and helped secure a solid 2017 recruiting class with strong additions that included California defensive back Jordan Genmark-Heath and rover candidate Jeremiah Owusu-Koramoah, just to name a few.
