It is official, at least for the next five years, Notre Dame and USC will not face each other in a rivalry game that was started all the way back in 1926. The only two times these two teams didn't face in the last nearly 100 years were during World War II and the 2020 Covid-19 season.
Before the 2025 season started, it was reported that Notre Dame and USC were having trouble renewing their series contract, and now it is reportedly being put on hold until at least 2030. It was reported that Notre Dame was more than willing to set up the series, but USC was unhappy with game dates, knowing that later games in the season seem to matter more to the CFP selection committee.
