While there wasn't any genuine concern over whether Notre Dame would topple Stanford, there was still plenty of drama in the middle of Saturday night's ultra-late game. Not long after Jermiyah Love burnished his Heisman campaign with the Fighting Irish's first drive, where he had 54 yards and a touchdown, the star running back was injured and had to leave the game.
On the Irish's second drive of the game, Love was brought down by a crowd of Cardinal, and one defender's knee landed directly on his rib cage. After the rest of the group got up, Love remained on the ground and eventually had to head to the medical tent.
