Over the last year, the Notre Dame football team has found a new archenemy in Penn State Nittany Lions coach James Franklin.
This new coaching rivalry started when Franklin and Freeman held a joint press conference before the two teams matched up in the Orange Bowl during the college football playoffs. During that press conference, more than a few onlookers felt as though Franklin was being disrespectful towards Irish head coach Marcus Freeman while also complaining about how Notre Dame wasn't in a conference. The Blue and Gold got a measure of revenge by beating the Big Ten team to advance to the CFP Finals.
