Notre Dame raced to a 35-3 halftime lead and coasted to a 49-20 win over Stanford on Saturday night. The Fighting Irish ended the regular season at 10-2 and now must wait for the Playoff Committee to decide their fate. There were few surprises among the contending teams, so Notre Dame’s position as the ninth-seeded team should hold. A possibility exists that the Irish could pass Oklahoma for the eighth spot. The Sooners struggled to get past LSU at home in a very ugly performance by both teams.
Despite the relatively easy win, there were a couple of rough patches for the Irish.
