Irish Defense Smothers Pitt

Notre Dame’s defense dominated Pittsburgh’s vaunted passing attack as the Irish rumbled to a 37-15 victory over the Panthers. Jeremiyah Love ran for 147 yards, including another highlight reel score to lead the offense. CJ Carr threw two touchdown passes to Malachi Fields, although he suffered two interceptions including a pick-six. Notre Dame won its eighth straight contest while ending Pitt’s five game winning streak. The Fighting Irish are now on a glide path to the college football playoffs. Matchups against Syracuse (3-7) and Stanford (also 3-7) remain.

Jordan Faison’s 21-yard punt return set up Notre Dame in good field position midway through the first quarter.
