Wednesday, former Boston College and Heisman Trophy winning quarterback Doug Flutie endured one of the worst tragedies anyone could ever deal with, as he lost both his parents within an hour of each other:
“My Dad had been ill and died of a heart attack in the hospital and my Mom, less than an hour later had a sudden heart attack and passed away,” Flutie wrote on Facebook. “They say you can die of a broken heart and I believe it.”
It was unknown if Flutie, who has worked in some capacity with NBC Sports for the last five seasons during broadcasts of both NFL and Notre Dame games, would be able to call this weekend’s game between Notre Dame and Boston College being played in historic Fenway Park.
