Notre Dame RB C.J. Prosise Will Enter NFL Draft

The Notre Dame Fighting Irish won't have running back C.J. Prosise next season. The redshirt junior announced on his Instagram Saturday that he will turn pro.

"Thank you to Notre Dame, the coaches, staff, faculty and fans," Prosise wrote in the post. "I couldn't have asked for a better university to play for, it's been and honor to have played with team 127 and I'm glad to have had the opportunity. I look forward to what lies ahead."

Prosise took over as the team's starting running back after Greg Bryant left the school and Tarean Folston was injured. He lead the team in rushing with 156 carries for 1,032 yards and 11 touchdowns. He also added 26 catches for 308 yards and one TD.

It was a breakout season for Prosise, who came to Notre Dame as a safety. He was more of a wide receiver last season, catching 29 passes for 516 yards and two scores. He had just 10 carries entering this year.

Notre Dame should be just fine at RB without Prosise. Folston is expected to return from his injury and true freshman Josh Adams showed promise this year. With Prosise unable to play in the Fiesta Bowl against Ohio State, Adams carried the ball 14 times for 78 yards and a score.
