3 Biggest Surprises From Notre Dame 2015 Fall Camp

The Notre Dame Fighting Irish have wrapped up fall camp, with their first game is just over a week away. SB Nation was at Notre Dame's fall camp and they came away surprised by several things. Here are the three biggest surprises from Notre Dame fall camp.

DeShone Kizer Is The Backup QB

There was plenty of talk about true freshman Brandon Wimbush potentially being the backup QB this season. Instead, Kizer established himself as the clear backup. Wimbush still has potential, but needs some time to develop.

Freshman Look Great

Several freshmen had a strong fall camp for Notre Dame. Jerry Tillery will see playing time early with nose guard Jarron Jones hurt. SB Nation called WR Equanimeous St. Brown "the most impressive newcomer" not named Tillery. Freshman running backs Josh Adams and Dexter Williams impressed. They could play early now that Greg Bryant has left the school. The Notre Dame class was ranked 13th by 247Sports and SB Nation thinks that ranking could end up being too low

Devin Butler Is The Third Corner

Butler wasn't expected to be the third corner, but that's the case right now. Cole Luke and KeiVarae Russell were the clear starters, but the third corner spot was a wide-open battle. Butler has apparently impressed the coaching staff enough to win the job. He should be the other outside corner with Luke in nickel sets when Russell shifts into the slot position.
