Three-star cornerback Greg Newsome from nearby Carol Stream has committed to Northwestern. He announced his decision on Twitter Monday afternoon.
Newsome’s 247 composite ranks as the No. 8 player in the state of Illinois and No. 44 cornerback in the nation. He attended the same high school, Glenbard North, as All-Big Ten running back Justin Jackson.
Pat Fitzgerald and his staff have dominated the state in recruiting for the class of 2018. Newsome is Northwestern’s sixth in-state commitment, choosing to play in Evanston over offers from Arkansas, Boston College, Duke, Illinois, Iowa, Iowa State, Minnesota, Purdue, Syracuse, Vanderbilt, Virginia Tech, Virginia, and Western Michigan, among others.
