Northwestern announced its captains at Meet The Team Night on Friday, as head coach Pat Fitzgerald name Anthony Walker, Matthew Harris, Austin Carr and Connor Mahoney as the team’s four captains.
Walker was an obvious choice given how he is already the leader of the defense, and has already received the No. 1 jersey for the upcoming season. It is somewhat rare for Northwestern to bestow this honor onto a non-senior, but Walker is clearly deserving.
Harris is the only starting senior in the secondary and has taken on the role as a vocal leader this offseason especially.
