Despite a cold start to the field in which Northwestern trailed 9-4, the Wildcats rallied back with a 16-7 run over the last five minutes of the first quarter. This included a final minute in which Jillian Brown cashed a right-corner three to break a 15-15 tie, then pulled up for a left elbow jumper that beat the buzzer. Heading into the second quarter, Northwestern led 20-16 over No. 8 Maryland and actually — for a few minutes — looked like the better team.
