EVANSTON, Ill. (AP) Bryant McIntosh scored 20 points and Trey Demps added 14 and Northwestern beat Fairfield 79-72 on Wednesday night.
McIntosh's acrobatic driving lay-up and free throw with 52 seconds remaining pushed the Wildcats lead to eight points after Fairfield had pulled within three after trailing by double digits earlier in the second half.
McIntosh was 8 of 13 from the field, and 6 of 8 from the line. Aaron Falzon scored 13 points and Alex Olah added 11 to round out Northwestern's (2-0) balanced scoring attack.
