Former Northwestern linebacker Chi Chi Ariguzo has signed with the Detroit Lions, the team announced.
Ariguzo (6-foot-1, 235 pounds) went undrafted out of Northwestern in 2014 but inked a deal with the Chargers as an undrafted rookie free agent. He appeared for San Diego in the preseason, but ended his season prematurely when he was waived, cleared waivers and put on the injured reserve list.
Ariguzo has his work cut out for him in Detroit given that he is just now joining the team, although he will get to practice alongside former teammate Deonte Gibson.
Ariguzo was considered a solid tackler coming out of college, but his lack of athleticism and struggles in pass coverage caused him to drop off entirely.
