CHICAGO— Pat Fitzgerald has been keeping his cards close to the chest when it comes to Clayton Thorson’s injury status. That trend continued Monday at Big Ten Media Days.
Asked about the health of Northwestern’s signal-caller, Fitzgerald was hopeful that he would be able to participate in the Aug. 30 matchup with Big Ten foe Purdue but didn’t give a definitive answer.
“That’s certainly the goal,” Fitzgerald said, although he emphasized that NCAA rules prohibit him from watching Thorson throw. Fitz joked that “[I’ve] seen him roll out without a football, but I can’t watch him with the football.
