Wrestling: Southeast Polk's Kalob Runyon, a 2020 state medalist, commits to Northern Iowa

Northern Iowa scooped up another talented in-state wrestler in Thursday morning.

Kalob Runyon, a senior at Southeast Polk, informed the Des Moines Register he has officially committed to Doug Schwab and the Panthers. He picked Northern Iowa over Grand View, Wartburg and Loras, and projects as a heavyweight.

"I love the coaches a lot," Runyon told the Register. "I see how they invest in their guys, and the improvements guys make. For instance, Drew Foster didn't win a title in high school, then worked his tail off at UNI and became a national champion.

"I just look at that and it speaks to the program that they are and I can't wait to be part of it.
