Wednesday was a trip.
Around 3 p.m., Northwestern announced the cancellation of the 2021 Midlands Championships. They made that decision “out of an abundance of caution” due to COVID-19 concerns. This is now the second straight season without the Midlands.
Most of the wrestling community (or at least everybody not going to the Southern Scuffle) responded the way you’d expect … by unleashing fury and distress in the form of tweets and Facebook comments and Lord knows what else.
But it didn’t take long for a few alternatives to surface — including one right here in Iowa.
