AMES, Iowa - The University of Northern Iowa women's tennis team opened its 2016 dual season with a 4-0 loss today to the UTEP Miners.
The Miners were able to secure the doubles point by scoring wins at No. 2 and No. 3 doubles. UNI's top doubles pairing of Jieke Stroobant and Elvira Lopez were tied with UTEP's No. 1 doubles squad of Vivienne Kulicke and Duda Santos at 3-3 when the match was stopped after the Miners clinched the doubles point.
UTEP notched three singles wins to end the dual with the Miners in favor 4-0.
